Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
Soothing and calming, lavender essential oil has a multitude of uses, hence why it appears in the majority of our blends. Lavender essential oil is well known to help calm the mind, by restoring the parasympathetic nervous system back to its resting state. This nervous system is responsible for increasing heart rate, breathing rhythm, and hormone secretion.
 
Peppermint (Mentha piperita)
Inhalation of peppermint can decrease anxiety by decreasing the level of the hormone cortisol (released by the kidneys when stressed) and increasing serotonin (responsible for satisfaction, happiness and optimism) and endorphins (relieve pain, reduce stress and improve mood). The main compounds in our peppermint such as carbine, limonene and methyl can cause analgesic effects, which helps soothe pain. 
 
Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)
Reported to have a calming effect on stress and anxiety. It works by acting as a natural analgesic and can have mild anxyolitic-like effects (a class of medicinal drugs used to treat anxiety and stress).
